On Vox: Hill climb to my parents' for the golden week
It was the last summer I thought I would ride to my parents' home at the bottom of the Yatsugatake mountains in Yamanashi prefecture. I remember I read the blog entry by Kondo-san who rode his bike for Kobuchizawa for his friend's wedding ceremony and I sent him an email to ask if the tunnel in the middle of the route was too dangerous for a novice rider like me. He responded immediately that it should be just fine because even a rude driver would take a little more care in his/her driving in a tunnel, especially when it is narrow without shoulder; I should just turn on the tail light and front light and it should go fine.

On Vox: Bike to lunch!
It was one lovely day yesterday that most of my colleagues who I usually go out for lunch with came to the office by their bikes, including Akira, the newest addition to the bike club. There was no reason not to do BTL. I don't know why but we always choose to do burgers when we BTL. We first thought it would be Kua Aina again, but then I found The Great Burger at Harajuku in Google search results. They are also blogging in MT.It was when we arrived at Cat Street that I realized it was probably the first time in more than a decade for me to walk the street. The street has changed as it had shops for big names such as Nike, Gregory, and Adidas. Those days of small but nice clothes shops seems to have gone.

On Vox: 7km in 31:58
I ran in the Camp Zama again this year at the Cherry Blossom Festival 2009. Last year I was able to finish in 37 minutes for the 7km run, so, naturally the target was at 35 minutes.

On Vox: Weekend Bike Ride
I have got absolutely no plan this three days weekend and I knew that for a few weeks. A couple of friends kindly invited me to join their plans but I thought I would rather be as alone as I could be. I did try to take a short trip to somewhere but failed to find interesting options mostly because I started too late. What was the remaining option? Biking of course.

だいぶ前に最初の巻が出ていて、銀輪の覇者を読んだ頃にはもうAmazon.co.jpから盛んにお勧めされていたんだが、なんとなく買うのが恥ずかしくてスルーしていた。で、ある日の夜、買い物ついでにジャスコの本屋に寄ってみると、エスカレータから目に付く文庫コーナーの特設棚に平積みになっていた。どうやら待望の第二巻が出たらしい。目の前で見るとスルーすることはできなくて、2冊とも買っていた。

ここまで自転車にはまっている自分のことを我ながらバカだと思う。道を歩けばメッセンジャーの乗っている自転車を目で追い、日曜日の朝は必ずベランダから大井埠頭を走る自転車をながめる。自転車関連だというだけでDVDを買ってみたり本を読んでみたりする。

んで焼肉。塩ハラミうんまい。特上カルビなにこれやわらかー。ロースすげー肉の味。おかみさんもちょっとぶっきらぼうだけど、別に気にならない感じだったし、コードネーム次男が前面に出てきた後半にはなんと肉のおかわりもしちゃったよ。まあすいていたってのもあるけどね。

先日競技に復帰することを発表した自転車ロードレース界のスーパースター、ランス・アームストロングを擁して「地球上でもっとも過酷なスポーツイベント」と呼ばれるツール・ド・フランスを7回制した名将、ヨハン・ブリュイネールが書いた、勝利への指南書。全17項目に渡って、「勝つ」ために彼がやっていることを簡潔に、かつ自転車ロードレース中に彼が実際に考えたことを実例として織り交ぜながら解説している。どれも金科玉条と呼ぶにふさわしい内容だが、僕が特に気に入ったのは4か条目に彼が挙げているこれ。

自転車ロードレースは他のスポーツとはいろいろ違うことが最近分かり始めた。基本的に個人のレースなのに、チームの戦略が勝敗を左右する。出場している選手の中には、最初から勝利を目指さないものがいる（そっちのほうが多い）。だから選手のほとんどは1度も記録に名を残すことなくキャリアを終える。個人の名前が記録に残る試合なのに、多くの選手はただ1人を勝たせるために試合中に「働いて」、その1人が勝てばそれが自分の勝利でもある。
